Will The Last Of Us Be Better Than Uncharted?
Naughty Dog is no doubt one of the best developers of all time, they pack quality into their games on a largely unrivaled scale. Their thrilling stories and addicting gameplay have had us enjoying their games for years. This gen, Uncharted has had us hooked on it since 2007. But will their new IP, The Last Of Us, top the successful action adventure giant that is Uncharted?
The Last Of Us has a more survival-oriented action approach. I don't really see you pulling off the insane jumps and wild tricks of Nathan Drake in this game. Rather, I think there will be pulse-pounding moments where the character's lives are in danger and fighting for their mere survival in this forsaken world.
No multiplayer means, much like the first Uncharted game, we'll be sticking to a campaign for most of the game, unless they include some sort of survival, arcade, or bonus mode. The game looks amazing, and in similar style of the first Uncharted game, are presenting some of the best graphics we've seen at the point of release.
The gameplay itself also shines here. With Nathan Drake we were scaling huge walls, having epic gunfights with tons of enemies at once, and solving puzzles. But in The Last Of Us, the combat looks slower paced, to help build tension, and adds in a lot more grit and gore to fit the desolate feel and look of the world. We've also got a full inventory system here, complete with the ability to make Molotov cocktails, among other things.
We've also heard reports that the game is dynamic, meaning the levels themselves and the way you progress through them are different each time you play. How often these change and how unique your experience will be remains yet to be seen, but it's certainly a good feature to increase replayability.
With a thrilling tale of survival, a dark and gritty forsaken world, and realistic combat packed with intense encounters that have you fighting just to live, The Last Of Us looks like a truly amazing game. I believe that it will be better than Uncharted in some ways, namely the atmosphere and story.
What do you think? Could The Last Of Us be better than Uncharted? Do you think Nathan Drake will remain Naughty Dog's king? How do you feel about The Last Of Us in general? Let me know in the comments, and as always, thanks for reading!
