Sony Upgrading PS3 Hard Drive??

Sony recently announced it is discontinuing the 20GB model of the PlayStation 3 in North America, leaving the 60GB version the only SKU available for the console. But a spokesman for the company recently revealed that Sony is considering releasing a new model with an even larger hard drive.

Speaking to Bloomberg recently, Sony representative Satoshi Fukuoka said the company is mulling over the idea of increasing the PS3's hard drive, but didn't provide any details. At the end of March, GamesIndustry reported on an FCC filing that revealed Sony may be planning an 80GB model.

With the imminent release of the Xbox 360 Elite, the PS3 stands to be out gigged by 60GB (the Elite comes with a 120GB hard drive). It only makes sense that Sony would be making plans to remain competitive with Microsoft.

I will be sure to keep you all up to date. When this story unfolds. I could get confirmation with Sony if they will be a upgrade of the PS3 Hard Drive.
