TOKYO — April 1, 2007 — Sony Corp. announced today a global recall of the PlayStation 3 video game and entertainment system after accepting customers’ complaints that the system could not perform all the features as advertised by the company.
"Yes, we promoted the PlayStation 3 as a powerful supercomputer that could even work as a grill machine, yet it failed to perform that function," said Jack Tretton, president and CEO, SCEA. "The fact that the PlayStation 3 wasn’t able to cook sausages and hamburgers as advertised opened the possibility for customers to fill a lawsuit against us, so we have decided to recall all existing PlayStation 3 systems."
