Post E3 2007 Impressions

E3 2007 was smaller this year and it was only invite only. So far I have been hearing mix feelings for many people that headed over to E3 which was held in Santa Monica, CA. One of the feedbacks that a lot of writers and people that got the invite have said it was of a better experience because they got more time with the games and did not have to fight through the crowd of people around. This year they actually got to spend some more time with the developers and hear the sound from the game. So it was a good experience for them. Also a lot of developers said they still have there voice because in the past trying to talk to a crowd of writers and people to see the game and screaming all day long for three days it could take a big toll on you. The negative feedback has been that developers were held all in different spots around the area. Traffic was crazy and it took some time to get there because you had to make Appointments.

Well as for me I was home watching the G4 coverage and using the great old World Wide Web to get more information and also using the Xbox Live to download the latest trailers and videos in HD. So I feel that Microsoft and G4 done a good job giving the information so I felt I did not miss anything. Still I wish I was there just so I could interact and see the games with my own eyes. As for overall the three big conference like Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony there was not any big words like I predicted Microsoft would say Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Soild will make its way to there console which that did not happen. Also Microsoft will cut there price and that did not happen. Sony on the other hand did cut there price to 499.99 and will be releasing a 80 gig version of there console for 599.99 that will be coming with Motorstorm. So far Amazon.com has been reporting since Sony has drop there price of the 60gig to $499.99 sales has been moving. Now Sony made it really clear that when the 60gig version of the PS3 is gone that is it. They will not be anymore 60gig version for anyone to purchase they will only be having the 80gig. So what is the big deal. At the end of the day you are only getting 20gigs more with a Motorstorm game? For the same price as the 60gig and Sony has made it clear that they will be big titles like Warhawk and Socom heading to the Playstation Network for you to download and also launching Movie, TV Shows and Music download and of course the “Home” to be downloaded through the Playstation Network. Now that is not a big jump 20gigs more? At least when Microsoft released the Elite it was giving you something to think about and I mean from a 20gig harddrive to a 120 harddrive. Maybe Sony is thinking that customers that own a PS3 or know about there console you could upgrade the harddrive with no problems. Sony has not really push that subject. So it is going to be interesting to see what happens if Sony will make another price cut this xmas for the 80gig to 499.99? As for the games Sony has showed you could see they are not really pushing the fact that they have the games for this year but they have a strong line-up though which could carry on to next year. I was surprise they did not show anything about Final Fantasy but did show Metal Gear Soild which got me interested. Hopefully in TGS in Japan they show some gameplay and also show something about Final Fantasy. Sony is coming on strong and hopefully that games that will be releasing this year could be strong titles. As on the other hand Microsoft showed off maybe one of the strongest line-ups I have seen in a long time. The strongest was about in 2004. Microsoft showed off what will be releasing this year and starting next month to the end of the year you will have at least one good title a month. Now Microsoft did not really show anything for next year but this year will be Microsoft’s year and I feel Microsoft will win this xmas and hopefully next year Microsoft could show something because it looks like Sony will be heading for next year and they will be having some strong titles. As for Nintendo they didn’t really show anything that impress me and I feel Nintendo has not really supported the hardcore Nintendo fans out there. Like they showed off Mario, Metroid, Mario Kart. Which they also said Mario Kart will have internet play. So they are expanding the Wii experience but they did not announced anything more for hardcore gamers. Which of course they were not going to show off Manhunt 2 just because what it has caused in the gaming industry with its gameplay. Nintendo announced it is new controller which is called the Zapper which will be used for games like Resident Evil it is like a House of the Dead type of shooter. In conclusion all three major conferences had there falls just because nothing big was there. Nintendo made it clear that they are out there to cause major headlines to the causal gamers like moms, grandmas and also want to make headlines on the media like introducing Wii Fit which is a platform to help you workout and keep status of your weight. So Nintendo overall is slowing moving away from hardcore gamers and taking a different route. So hopefully this wont effect all the games out there and make developers stay that way and stop making hardcore games. Sony showed off what they have planned and Killzone 2 was the main event for me and showing that Killzone 2 is alive and yes it does look like it did in E3 2005 when they showed it off. Microsoft showed that they have the best line-up and maybe a game for everyone from awesome FPS like Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 and action RPGs games liek Mass Effect. Also I forgot to mention Bioshock. So plenty of games is coming for the Xbox 360 console so if you are a xboxfan start saving your money cause starting next month till xmas you are going to be seeing a lot of games out there coming out for the console. I will have more details on games on all three console as this week goes on. So stay tuned!

Show #3 will be coming really soon. Also it might be the longest show yet! I will have some sound bites of the three major conferences and some interviews from developers. So stay tuned!
