Is Watch Dogs That Next Gen Experience We Want?
Watch Dogs, the new Ubisoft title we saw at E3, got a very positive reception. And rightfully so, the game looks intriguing, with dynamic, next-gen graphics. But eye candy wasn't all we saw, with the hacking ability in game mixed with some third person shooting, this could offer a truly unique gaming experience. But is it that next gen one we're after?
I believe so.
The game seems to mix the fluid gameplay of the hacking in with the storytelling directly. To put it more directly, what you do has a direct affect on the world around you. Messing with stoplights causes a wreck, etc. It is unclear if this will result in some chaotic free roam gameplay or if it's just in set areas, but even so, I think a little freedom with this would be amazing.
And on the graphics front, this is definitely the next gen look. From the vibrant atmosphere of the art gallery to the rainy streets of Chicago, this game captures the look and feel of a next gen game perfectly. Not that any of us know what that would be, exactly, but judging by this, we've got a basis now.
And if interactive gameplay and pretty graphics aren't your idea of good next gen titles, then the gameplay should sell you. You've got a mix of all the hacking tools and abilities at your disposal, plus some third person shooting elements that look truly fantastic in motion, they're fused directly in and look seamless and natural.
Watch Dogs caught a lot of attention at E3, and confirmed as a title for this gen, could this be the swan song of this era, perhaps? The last game to blow us away this generation and lead us into the next? I believe it very well could be, this is the one game I've had my eye on since E3, and I can't wait for more gameplay or information.
What do you think? Does Watch Dogs look cool? Not your cup of tea? Will it be good, but not next gen good? Let me know in the comments, and as always, thanks for reading!
