Godfather coming to PS3 and Wii consoles

Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that 'The Godfather' will be coming to the Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3) and the Nintendo Wii.

EA in association with Paramount Digital Entertainment announced two new versions of The Godfather "The Godfather: The Don's Edition" for the PS3, and "The Godfather: Blackhand Edition" for Nintendo's Wii video game and entertainment system.

"The Godfather: The Don's Edition" for the PS3 will include 'The Corleone Expansion Pack', with new gameplay and missions; while "The Godfather: Blackhand Edition" for the Wii will give an enhanced combat experience with motion-based Blackhand Control.

According to sources, gamers can now take over the Big Apple in these fully interactive open-world games based on the classic film by Paramount Pictures, and the critically acclaimed book by Mario Puzo.

"The Godfather: The Don's Edition" for the PS3 and "The Godfather: Blackhand Edition" for Nintendo's Wii offer brand new ways to go from Street Soldier to Don as gamers gain control of the streets of New York. What they have to do is to follow the path of an Enforcer or Operator, each path having its own unique perks and abilities to earn. They can then chat up specific characters to get the skinny on dirty cops, take down two additional revised compounds of rival Families, execute five new contract hits, and call in larger Corleone Hit Squads when the going gets tough.

And with "The Godfather: The Don's Edition" also having the new Shipyard and Railyard transportation hubs to explore and exploit, the gamers' path to the head of La Cosa Nostra is dotted with new perils and excitement.

"The Godfather: The Don's Edition" also takes full advantage of the 'SIXAXIS' controller for PS3 to manhandle the controller as well as the opponent. And for improved, hyper-intuitive Blackhand Control in "The Godfather: Blackhand Edition", gamers can use gestures with the Wii-mote and Nunchuck to really beat down the opposition, or point directly at the screen using the Wii-mote for pinpoint firearm accuracy.

Meanwhile, both the games are scheduled to ship in March this year.
